Baptism of Infants
As a parish, we delight in the addition of new members to God’s family. We congratulate you as your family grows, and we take great joy in knowing that you have chosen Canadian Martyrs Parish as your spiritual home. Whether you are new to the parish or have been part of our church community for some time, we’d like to take the time to meet with you to discuss what the sacrament of baptism means to you, what it entails, and how we as a parish can help to support you as the primary catechists for your children as they grow through the years.
If you’d like more information about baptizing your child into the Catholic faith, please complete this form. A member of our parish team will reach out to you to schedule our first meeting.

After our preliminary meeting, we can work together to select a date for your child’s baptism. Since baptisms are the first step in joining the church community, it is customary for baptisms to be celebrated during Sunday Mass. We generally perform baptisms on the third Sunday of each month at the 10 a.m. Mass.
Your child will need at least one sponsor, or godparent, who will help support them as they grow in faith and grow closer to God. In choosing a godparent, it is important to consider someone who is 16 years of age or older, a baptized and confirmed Catholic who lives a life in line with the role of spiritual guide and role model. The godparent cannot be one of the parents of the child. If your chosen godparent cannot be physically present at the baptism, you can assign someone to stand as a proxy on that day.
