Canadian Martyrs Parish, Ottawa
A Letter from the Oblate Provincial Superior to the Parishioners of St. Joseph's Parish I would like to share with you an important moment in the life of your parish and our Oblate community. As Oblates, we are sent in mission by our community to serve where we are most needed. This often means that, after a time of ministry, we are asked to move and respond to new calls. While these transitions can be difficult, they are also a sign of our shared commitment to the wider mission of the Church. Four years ago, Fr. Robert Laroche, OMI, came to St. Joseph Parish as your pastor. He embraced this ministry with a generous heart and has been grateful to journey in faith with you. He will continue serving you until May 31, 2026. Beginning June 1, 2026, Fr. Robert will take on a new ministry in our Mission in Kenya, serving in the pre-novitiate in Karen, Nairobi. This is an important ministry in the formation of future Oblates, and we are deeply grateful for his willingness to respond so generously. At the same time, I am happy to share that Fr. Ken Thorson, OMI, will become your new pastor as of June 1, 2026. Fr. Ken comes with much experience and a deep love for parish life, and I am confident he will continue to build on the strong foundation already present at St. Joseph Parish. Transitions like this always carry a mix of gratitude and change. I invite you to give thanks for Fr. Robert’s presence among you, and to welcome Fr. Ken with the same openness and support. Please keep both Fr. Robert and Fr. Ken in your prayers, as well as your parish community during this time. Be assured of my prayers for all of you.Sincerely in Christ, – Fr. Andrzej Stendzina OMI, Provincial Superior OMI Lacombe Canada.A message from Fr. Robert will be shared soon..#stjosephs #stjosephschurch #stjosephsottawa #downtownottawa #ottawa #ottawachurch #churchservicesottawa #ottawaevents #inclusive #inclusivechurch #community #parishcommunity #ottawacornwall #allarewelcome #catholic #romancatholic #omi #oblatesofmaryimmaculate #pastor #thankyou #service ... Our young people felt God’s loving embrace tonight at our Reconciliation service ♥️. We walk this path together with joy, as we turn to God, and resolve to love the way Jesus taught us!
